The multiVAC datatransfer software manages the transfer of data files between the MAGIC site at La Palma and the data center at PIC, Barcelona. Several agents run in both sites to perform every step in the transfer workflow. A central database at PIC is used to manage this workflow and to make sure all data is successfully transferred. This database uses multiVAC to implement a hierarchical tree-like element structure to monitor the status of the transfer file-by-file. This webpage allows to browse this element tree and the status of each element, mainly for transfer management purposes.
Element metadata includes not only its transfer status, but also relevant information such as the path of the file at LP and PIC, and the FTS job ids.
The information displayed on this page is queried in real time from the central database, so you know exactly when your files are available.
Errors in the transfer workflow can be easily traced to the individual file thanks to the element status inheritance from children to parent.
Stats based on historical status information can be used to evaluate the workflow performance and improve the data transfer.
